Go Fast Speed Days 2008
Eastbourne's Go Fast! Speed Days is making a serious impact around the world as it dominates the home page of YouTube with more than 889,000 views, topping its rival featured videos.

The video titled ‘Extreme Downhill Skateboard', filmed last month at the UK leg of the World Downhill Skateboarding Championships at Beachy Head Eastbourne, is currently showing in the featured video list on the home page of video sharing website, YouTube.com, a slot that advertisers usually pay thousands for.

Also featuring on myspace with more than 183,000 views, the video is reaching millions of people around the world and showcases Eastbourne's super fast Beachy Head Road. Plus there's even a group devoted to the event on social networking site, Facebook, called ‘I went to Go Fast 08 and it was awesome!'

Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "The media and web interest in Go Fast! Speed Days just continues to grow and get bigger than ever! The amount of coverage the event has received around the world is startling and to feature on the home page of a site as big as YouTube is astonishing. It is fantastic PR for Eastbourne and hugely valuable in getting our resort out there and reaching as many people as possible."

Billions of videos are watched on YouTube every year. With the Speed Days video also attracting more than 1,000 comments, the event has grown hugely popular with a following around the globe.

Go Fast! Speed Days took place last month in Eastbourne, with 160 competitors travelling from as far as Australia, Brazil and the USA to take part. Riders whizzed down the new super fast Beachy Head road as Canadian Scott ‘Scoot' Smith was crowned the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) third World Cup Series winner.

The second year this event has been held in Eastbourne, it attracted significant media interest, with BBC Breakfast's Mike Bushell and Blue Peter's Helen Skelton even travelling to the event to have a go themselves.

Go Fast! Speed Days is already confirmed to return to Eastbourne next year from 18-20 September 2009 and more information can be found on www.visiteastbourne.com and www.gofastspeeddays.com .
