Still Time to Win a Speed Days Skateboard
12 November 2008
Extreme sport fans in Eastbourne still have three weeks left to enter the Speed Days Skateboard Competition for the chance to win a Lush Longboards skateboard worth over £150.
Eastbourne Borough Council have teamed up with Loco Skates in Station Parade to offer local skate enthusiasts the chance to win a top quality board as used by some of the world's top downhill skateboarders at the town's Go Fast! Speed Days event in September. With entries closing on 30 November, there is still time to drop or post entries to the shop where the prize skateboard is on display.
Eastbourne Borough Council Spokesperson for Tourism, Cllr Steve Wallis said "I would like to encourage as many people as possible to enter the competition as the skateboard on offer really is a quality piece of kit. It's great to offer this to local skaters in Eastbourne because the resort offers a fantastic setting for extreme sports and two very popular events are held here every year attracting top sportsmen from around the world."
With the coast and countryside offering waves, steep hills, and plenty of grassland, Eastbourne is an ideal setting for extreme sports.
Beachy Head Road offers a perfect setting for downhill gravity sports, with the International Gravity Association (IGSA) and Go Fast Sports choosing to hold their Speed Days event here for the past two years.
With this year's event attracting significant media interest and still a top watched video on YouTube with over 1.1 million hits, sports fans are in with the chance of winning a skateboard just like the one that Blue Peter's Helen Skelton used when she tried her hand at downhill skateboarding in Eastbourne.
Entering the competition is very easy; anyone interested in winning the skateboard simply needs to pop their name, address, and e-mail address onto a postcard and drop into Loco Skates, 10 Station Parade, Eastbourne. Alternatively entries can be posted to the shop with the competition closing on 30 November.
